Star Wars' Daisy Ridley says Rey's "parents thing is not satisfied"

But Rise of Skywalker will have some answers.

While it seemed that we had a conclusive answer about Rey's parentage in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Daisy Ridley has admitted that the matter isn't "satisfied".

If you remember, Kylo Ren said that her parents were "filthy junk traders [who] sold [her] off for drinking money", implying that she didn't need to come from significant people to be the heroine.

However, Ridley has revealed that Rey is still searching for answers in The Rise of Skywalker, explaining that she believes there's more to the story than meets the eye.

"The parents thing is not satisfied – for her and for the audience," she told Entertainment Weekly. "That's something she's still trying to figure out – where does she come from?"

She added: "It's not that she doesn't believe it, but she feels there's more to the story. And she needs to figure out what's come before so she can figure out what to do next."

Ridley previously promised that the mystery of Rey's parentage would be resolved in the upcoming movie, revealing: "[Director JJ Abrams] did say the question is answered. So at the end of the film, you do know what the dealio is."

Abrams also teased: "I will say that we knew, going into this, that this movie, it had to be a satisfying conclusion.

"And we were well aware that that's one of the things that's been out there. I don't want to say that what happens in Episode 8 [didn't happen]. We have honoured that. But I will say that there's more to the story than you've seen."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has a release date of Thursday, December 19 in the UK and Friday, December 20 in the US.
