Black Panther's Michael B Jordan recalls Star Wars audition he "bombed"

'I think that was probably my worst to date.'

Black Panther star Michael B Jordan has opened up about a blunder he made while auditioning for Star Wars a few years ago.

Jordan tried out in front of director JJ Abrams for a role in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens and things didn't quite go to plan.

Speaking on the Just for Variety podcast, Jordan explained how the audition was one of his worst, saying that the vague scripts made it hard for him to connect with the story.

"I think that was probably my worst audition to date," he recalled.

"I think it was I couldn't wrap my brain around some of the sides because you know when you're reading for these high-level projects, there's never really any specificity in the sides.

"Everything's like super vague; everything is in secret. Reading through, I just couldn't connect it. I definitely bombed that one for sure."

Jordan added that he left the audition knowing that it was bad and he wouldn't get the part.

He also mentioned that he's not seen Abrams since and joked that he made the right decision as the Star Wars franchise has continued to do well.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+, while Rise of Skywalker is also on Sky Cinema Premiere and NOW.
