New Star Wars series announced for Disney+ next year

The Bad Batch returns.

Disney has announced that a new animated Star Wars series will premiere on the Disney+ streaming service next year.

Titled Star Wars: The Bad Batch, the new series will be executive produced by The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars' Dave Filoni and is set to follow the unique squad of clones known as the Bad Batch, who were first introduced in The Clone Wars.

Set in the post-Clone War era, the new series will follow the Bad Batch as they take on daring missions and struggle to find new purpose in the galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.

Clone Force 99, aka The Bad Batch, first made an appearance in the season 7 premiere of The Clone Wars, when they were recruited by Commander Rex.

The unit is described as a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army, with each one possessing a special skill (via StarWars.com).

These genetic mutations made the Bad Batch superior soldiers, and they were known to have a 100% success rate.
